Introduction
Solo Artist from: Devon, United Kingdom (available for travel) Afra al Kahira is a professional teacher & performer with over 25 years experience as a belly dancer. She is the UK's expert on Wings of Isis and is particularly known for her Egyptian-influenced style, her stunning double wings numbers and her cutting edge experimental work. Afra also performs using a wide range of other props: cane, candelabra, (shamadan), single/double sword, single/double fan, single/double silk veils & dancing on glasses amongst others. Afra is the founder & director of the popular Celebrating Dance Festival held each October in Devon featuring teachers like Morocco of New York. She edits Taqasim, Britain's oldest bellydance magazine and trains dancers and teachers through her school ASMED (Al Kahira School of Middle Eastern Dance). She doesn't teach weekly classes, but is available for private tuition, shows, haflahs and other dance events.
