Amira Hamzar is a Bellydance Artist of seven years who learned through the ancient art of Raks Sharqui, better know today as Bellydance, that all women are beautiful regardless of age, color, size or shape. Amira learned this valuable lesson by transforming from student to teacher, and from shy homebody to public performer.
She is the facilitator of the Traverse City Chapter of PURE as well as the Troupe Leader for the award-winning Dancers of the Rising Phoenix.
Amira performs both classical and modern Bellydance and dances with props such as sword (Sayf), tray, fire, Zills, Riq, Veil, Double Veil, Cane (Assaya) and the Wings of Isis.
Amira also teaches and performs the dances of Polynesia, Hula and Tahitian; the dances of India, Bhangra and Bollywood; Bailarabia (Latin-Bellydance Fusion), Kundalini Bellydance, Pop-Raks (Hip-Hop/bellydance Fusion), Rak-A-By-Baby (Pre-Natal Bellydance and Yoga), Goddess-Dance, Rak-A-Billy (Country-Western/Bellydance Fusion), Ants-In-Your-Pants Yogi-Dance, and AfRakan (African-Bellydance Fusion).

Amira practices meditation, Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi and is currently learning how to Clog (think “Riverdance”) and how to play the Riq (tambourine).
