Jamiila has studied Middle Eastern dance since 1986 with many instructors and mentors including: Farida Fahmy, Mahmoud Reda, Najwa Fouad, Mohamed Khalil, Raqia Hassan, Dina, Sahra Saeeda, Yousrey Sharif, Nourhan Sharif, Cassandra, Denise Enan, Jalilah, and Hadia including many others. Jamiila was the first 'bellydancer' to receive the recognition and support of the Manitoba Arts Council and has done extensive work educating and entertaining audiences throughout the prairies with the Folk Arts Council of Winnipeg. Before she moved to BC in September 2005, she was resident bellydance instructor at the University of Manitoba. Jamiila continues striving for excellence in her most beloved art form but also expresses her creativity through writing, acting and costume design.
Training Schedule:
Jamiila currently teaches most evenings during the week and on the weekend throughout the Vancouver area. Class and session lengths vary.
Regular group, private and semi-private classes are available. Please contact for details. Schedule changes every season.
Jamiila is also available for out of town workshops and has experience teaching all age groups (from 5 to 105)
