A second generation Lebanese Canadian, Rahma has a Bach. of Phys Ed. with a background in modern dance, folk, Afro-jazz, and gymnastics. Known as the teacher of teachers, this performer & teacher of ??bellydance?? since 1975 has an impressive record of workshops and live and media exposure both nationally and internationally.
She has been able to use historical and cultural elements of the Middle East in a contemporary context to create a personal style of dance. This style can flexibly cover the range from art to public entertainment while retaining the sensuality and joyful grace of the tradition and the athletic demands of the dance.
Training Schedule:
Teaching in community centers on the west side and west end of Vancouver. Weekly: 4 beginner classes, 2 intermediate classes and one evening of advanced workshops focused on a single topic each time, with frequent guest teachersa d student nights every 3 months. All classes 90 min. and include a 25 min. stretch warm up. General emphasis is on applying technique to the music. 90 min. beginner class video and 60 min. performance video available. Available for workshops worldwide.
